- The presentation of the course main topics, primary sources (the three novels by Ernaux, Lafon and Rosenthal), course objectives, assessment and evaluation.

- Students were asked to introduce themselves and talk a little bit about their expectations about this course. 

- Plenary discussion that touched some of the main topics that will be dealt with during the semester: sex vs gender, female voice / gaze / writing, evidence of gender-based discrimination nowadays, the contribution of women's and gender studies in our contemporary world.
