Seminar “Empire and Shakespeare: The Bard in Victorian India” by Professor Jyotsna Singh (Professor of Renaissance Literature, Michigan State University, USA) – on intercultural relations in 19th-century colonial India, specifically on the complex role of Shakespeare in the colonising mission of the British Empire and how the British colonising mission in India had was produced a hybrid culture even as it was promoting the superiority of English cultural forms.
