"Rethinking the American Dream" in light of research sets 1 & 3

The first half of David Kamp's  Vanity Fair article “Rethinking the American Dream” (manual pp 28-39) -  written in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis/sub-prime lending bubble and as the Great Recession was unfolding - was reviewed. Research Set 1 Class structure & representations of the American Dream and its flaws (Great Gatsby – book & films) and Research Set 3 Not really an American Dream (The Grapes of Wrath – film & Hillbilly Elegy – book & film) were examined in light of this orientation.
