COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Considering that this course is taught in English and assessment will also be in English, students are expected to have a good command of written and spoken English (at least English B2.2).
This course follows a continuous assessment model. Students are required to attend all classes, arrive on time, contribute to in-class discussions and activities, complete all assignments and come to class prepared to discuss the reading material(s) scheduled for that day (see the Course Calendar below).
Please note:
Students will be penalised for more than four unexplained absences from class.
I give students 10 minutes leeway at the beginning of class, but once class has started, and the door is closed, do not knock on the door and disturb class. Write to me if you have a reasonable excuse for being late and I will consider it.
ASESSMENT
The assessment criteria are as follows:
· Attendance and participation in class discussions that reflects critical thinking and an understanding of the assigned reading (25%)
· Midterm Test (35%)
· Final Test OR Research Project to be presented and discussed in class (40%)
NB: Students that have not attended 70% of the classes cannot choose between the Final Test or the Research Project. They will have to sit the Final Test.
See the guidelines for the Research Project in the Course Pack
