Programa e objectivos

1. construção de um estado da arte temático: objectivos e métodos

2. problemas de conceptualização em história

3. construção do discurso: história, narrativa e escrita

4. balanços críticos da historiografia sobre temáticas específicas : apresentação,  comentário e debate de ensaios apresentados pelos estudantes

 

Pretende-se o treino de

1) construir balanços críticos sobre a historiografia em domínios específicos.

2) analisar argumentos usados na estruturação de teses historiográficas.

3) debater problemas conceptuais.

4) estimular o sentido de interrogação.

 

Programme and goals

 

1. the construction of a thematic state of the art: aims and methods

2. problems of conceptualisation in history

3. discourse construction: history,  narrative and writing.

4. critical reviews of historiography on specific themes:

    presentation, commentary and discussion of essays presented by

    the students

 

 

This seminar aims at training

1) to build reviews of historiography in specific fields;

2) to analyse arguments used in the structuring of historiographical theses;

3) to debate conceptual problems;

4) to stimulate of a sense of questioning.

 

 

Metodologia e avaliação

Exposições teóricas em torno de problemas centrais relativos às temáticas do programa. Comentários críticos e debates de estudos relevantes para aprofundar o conhecimento dos temas e problemas do programa.   Apresentações orais e debate de resultados de trabalhos de em curso.

 

 

1. exposição oral - máximo 15 m – e debate no final do II semestre.                         40%                     

2. trabalho escrito: máximo de 6000 palavras, incluindo notas e bibliografia.         60%

 

duas possibilidades:

a) exposição crítica do estado da arte sobre o tema da tese ou

b) reflexão crítica a partir de uma ideia, um conceito ou um método, expostos numa ou várias conferências ouvidas pelo doutorando, aplicados a um tópico relacionado com a tese

 

 

Methodology and assessment

Theoretical presentations on central problems related to the topics of the programme. Critical comments and debates on relevant studies to deepen knowledge of the programme's themes and problems.  Lectures and discussion of results of ongoing work.

 

1. a lecture - maximum 15 m - followed by a debate by the end of the II semester  40%

2. a written paper: maximum 6000 words, including notes and bibliography            60%

 

two options:

a) a state of the art on the topic of the thesis

b) a critique of an idea, a concept or a method, presented in one or more lectures, heard by the PhD student, applied to a topic related to the thesis
