Paper and poster presentations (skills and visual aids)

This session was focused on research communication and presentation, specifically on paper and poster presentations. We discussed several typologies of paper presentation and the skills needed for an effective paper presentation, including how to prepare and handle visual aids (namely PowerPoint). With regard to posters, some examples of non-effective research posters were provided for students to comment, and a set of good practice recommendations was given. Students were also provided with useful links to poster templates and with information as to the most appropriate design programmes for the creation of research posters.
