Preparing for the job market: applying for grants and job interviews

The first part of the session was about grants, both research project grants and personal grants. The main features of, and expectations for, each grant were discussed, and several pieces of useful advice were given. The second part of the session was on how to prepare for an effective job interview. Basic guidelines were provided, and at the end the students responded to a short job interview guide that the instructor had prepared in advance. Throughout the discussion, several questions concerning research ethics were brought to the fore.
