Students will be assessed on attendance/class participation, homework, a grammar worksheet, a written test, oral presentations and an assignment on the novel.

Weighting will be as follows:

Grammar Worksheet…                          20%

Written test…                                         30% 

Assignment on novel…                           15% 

Oral Presentation…                                   20%

Attendance / class participation / homework…15%

WRITTEN TEST - There are two possible dates set for the written test.

TP3:                                November 20 or December 11

NOTE:

- You must have chosen one of the dates to take the test by October 21

- If you do not come to class on the day you are meant to do your written test or your oral presentation, you will get a 0.

 

ASSIGNMENT ON NOVEL

The delivery of the assignment on the novel Wonder by R.J. Palacio will take place on:

TP3: December 4 & 9

 

ORAL PRESENTATIONS*

Dates for oral presentations:

TP3: October 23 | November 6 & 25 | December 16 & 18


*You must submit the topic of your oral presentation by: TP3: October 2

- If you do not submit any topic until that date, you will get a 0.

- On the same day, you must select the date in which your oral presentation will take place.


BIBLIOGRAPHY       

  • The course book is available at the GREEN photocopy shop. Throughout the semester supplementary material will be posted in FLUL's e-learning website. The password will be given to you during the first week of classes.
  • Compulsory reading:  Wonder (2012) by R. J. Palacio

The novel will be read outside the classroom and will be discussed in class on the stipulated date (see calendar). There is a research project on the novel worth 15% of the final mark.
