Pop quiz on vocabulary learned for homework, then additional exercises to practise the past perfect tense.

Review of the structure, meaning and use of conditionals 0, 1 and 2, with practice.

Practice of the second conditional through a round robin of problem-stating and advice-giving: “If I were you, I’d…”

Small group work: a guessing-game with cards and clues (“If we didn’t have this, …”; “If this didn’t exist, …”; “Without this, …”).

“Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl.

Pre-teaching of vocabulary and expressions, followed by students reading the story aloud. Group discussion about the story, then students prioritised features of “the perfect murder” in pairs.

Tutorial/4^th hour work:  Writing a creative piece based on “Lamb to the Slaughter”.

Homework: Explore, learn and practice vocabulary relating to body movements and praising/criticising (vocabulary book units 47 and 48).
