Romanticism in Literature
A literary, artistic and philosophic movement in Europe of 18th century.
Main characteristics:
A reaction and a revolt against classicism and neoclassicism of previous centuries.
-Belief in the goodness,
- To appreciate an unspoiled world (like the children´s world).
-Passion for folk arts and folklore of “uncivilized” population.
-Solitory life.
- Imagination is superior than reason.
-To believe that each nation has it´s own contribution for the world culture.
- To evoke the (national) past (myth and mysticism).
- Rejection of modern world, rules and religion, industrialization.
