The week in review: three students' individual oral presentations. Newspaper columns: (a)  How to write journalism | Peter Cole and Michael White on writing columns (The Guardian); (b) the "me" column: two pieces by op-ed columnist Lenore Skenazy - "Why I Let My 9-Year-Old Ride the Subway Alone" and "More From America's Worst Mom: 9-Year-Old On The Subway, Continued". HOMEWORK: Write a "me" column on a topic of interest to you (800-1,000 words). This writing assignment is due on Wednesday, 7th November. TEXT 14 ("Sorry We Stole Your Stuff") is an example of a "me" column.
