HW
Homework is an adaptation of Student's Book ex.2 of "'For and Against' exercises" (p.3 of the Argumentative Essays section).

Here are step-by-step instructions for completing this essay:

0)
Read the arguments for/against using animals for entertainment
Decide if you're for/against
You will be using the Point-by-Point pattern.

1)
Write an outline:
 - match and decide on an order for each pair of pro/con arguments in ex.2; this will be your Body
 - rewrite each argument in your own words

 - write topic sentences that introduce each body paragraph in your essay. (e.g. If you look at model essay in ex.1, which is also Point-by-Point, each paragraph has a topic sentence that introduces a particular issue, which is then followed by one or more argument for/against)

 - write a thesis statement, which summarises the general thesis of your essay, and include it in the Introduction

 - write a conclusion statement (summary of your opinion)

 - give your essay a title.

2)
Now that you have all your essay pieces structured in an OUTLINE, you can start writing your essay.

For this exercise, you should focus on simply fleshing out your essay by articulating the arguments with appropriate Linking Devices (use the Useful language list in pp4-5). Your essay should fit on a single page.

! On Monday you must bring 2 printouts of the Outline and 2 printouts of your essay, for peer revision.
