Analysis of two texts from the anthology and second class on the history of the USA. Growth in numbers of Puritans in Massachusetts, Dutch in New York State, Brazilian Jews expelled from Recife in Brazil in New York City, African slaves in Virginia, English Royalists in the Carolinas, Quakers in Pennsylvania, Roman Catholics in Maryland and non-religious liberals in Rhode Island. Explanation that no one could ever believe that these disparate groups would ever become a "united" group.
