AIMS

To further develop the student's abilities to interact with longer texts and to fluently respond both orally and in writing within well-structured and organized formats in various contexts whether academic, social and/or professional.  Reading, writing, listening, speaking and academic skills will be integrated in order for students to develop fluency, efficiency and effectiveness in communication at near mastery level.

 

SYLLABUS OVERVIEW

The syllabus will be based on: five paragraph persuasive essays (reading and writing); reaction to opinions (orally and in writing); project work (academic articles, PPT presentations and/or research projects); reviews of cultural events and/or studies in literature, drama and film, and debates, among others.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

·       Test 1: 20%

·       Test 2: 30%

·       Oral Presentation: 20%

·       Written and/or Oral assignments and Class Participation: 25%

·       Attendance: 5%

Tutorial Management - to be announced at the beginning of the semester.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Having successfully completed English Strong Vantage (B2.2) or having been placed in English Proficiency (C1.1) as a result of a placement test done at the beginning of the academic year.
