Studying of texts 2, 3 and 4. Attention to the settlement of Pennsylvania by a private individual who later brought German Amish people to the province. Attention to the fact that John Smith became the first "president" of a colony in Jamestown, and to Smith's first speech when he stated that in this "New England" every man could become rich if he was prepared to work. The third text, dealing with the Boston Tea Party, shows how at the time (1774) no one really believed that it would ever be possible for such different groups of people to unite against the British crown.
