Analysis of "A Rose for Emily"

Final selection of topcs and dates for oral presentations, and explanation of the format of the abstract that each student group needs to present in the next class (8th Oct) In 150-500 words (depending on the size of the group) students need to define what they are going to do, how they are going to do it and how the topics will be divided between members of the group.


Discussion of William Faulkner's short story "A Rose for Emily" 

First a general discussion of students' interaction with the story and then illisiting how the emotions felt were obtained from the text by close reading of sections of the text.
Then presentation of the background of the story, but also illustrating how the text itself presented the elements of the background. 

This exercise was to help prepare students for deep reading of their set novels.
