Then introduced students to the structure of narrative texts (introduction of characters & setting; event; followed by resolution of event) Also discussed how different past tenses are used (simple, continuous, past perfect simple and continuous) to introduce movement and layers to the text. We did gap fill exercises with narrative texts so that students could see the structure and practise the verb tense usage. Students had to finish the exercises on p 80 of the manual for next class.
