AIMS

At the end of the semester, students will be able to maintain interaction and communicate effectively in a range of contexts and cope flexibly with problems in everyday life and use an enhanced exchange of information on topics of a more abstract nature, such as summarising and giving his or her opinion about a short story, article, talk, discussion, interview, or documentary and answering further questions of detail.

 

SYLLABUS OVERVIEW

Students will develop language competencies with regard to: reading authentic texts (newspaper articles, essays and short stories); writing (essays and summaries); listening and watching (interviews, documentaries and films).

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

·       Test 1: 20%

·       Test 2: 30%

·       Oral Presentation: 20%

·       Written and/or Oral Assignments and Class Participation: 25%

·       Attendance: 5%

Tutorial Management - to be announced at the beginning of the semester.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Having successfully completed English Strong Threshold (B1.2) or having been placed in English Vantage (B2.1) as a result of a placement test done at the beginning of the academic year.
