Students got into groups, grouping themselves according to the short story they have chosen to present for their oral presentation.
They subsequently identified the themes in their stories and chose one or more for their upcoming oral presentations. Students in the same group were not allowed to choose the same themes.
Next class: the teacher will model how to create a thesis/abstract/essay question.
