Discussion of the article “South Africa unease plays out on campus” by Karen Allen and the TEDx Talk "Mad at Mandela" by Sisonke Msimang, by addressing the following issues: (a) Afrikaans vs English as the language of learning (b) racism (c) social and economic disparities.
Guidelines for the individual oral presentations: (a) topics; (b) how to logically organise your ideas; how to prepare a PPT presentation; (c) useful language (transition words, etc.) for the different parts of your talk.
