Open discussion on the main themes of the film in class. Students were given random paragraphs of a text describing the political and social situation in Ireland at the turn of the century. After putting the excerpts into the correct order, the text was read and discussed in class. Students were then given a set of reviews of the film from a variety of sources for analysis and discussion of the techniques employed in the writing of film reviews.
