To reflect upon the remarkablecreativity of literature written inEngland throughout this lastcentury and to revisit, throughpoetry, essays and short fiction,some decisive moments incontemporary literary andcultural history. The syllabuswill proceed through closeattentive reading of severalinfluential authors of the periodfocusing on the study ofmodernist experiments, on thepersistent return to realist and/orpostmodernist practices, and ontheir contribution to the ongoingrewriting of the canon.
