Group presentation of two texts chosen by the lecturers pertaining to section 5 of the syllabus.

The groups that presented were composed by Sofia Martins, Duarte Santos, Ricardo Alexandre, Jonas Soares and Patrícia Galvão (text from Heath & Schneider); Francisco Gomes, Duarte Sousa, Martim Oliveira, Hugo Ferreira and Fabrícia Caçote (text from Choquet).

Towards a definition of integration. Dimensions of integration of immigrants into a host society.

National models of integration (Assimilationism; Multiculturalism/ cultural pluralism; Ethnic-differentialism; and Universalism) and their limits (the issue of parallel lives/societies).

The examples of France and the UK.

Introduction and housekeeping of the theoretical and practical classes.

Assessment of students.

Students in the Ordinary Regime

The evaluation is composed of two elements:

EV1. 1 written test (55%) plus presence in class;

EV2. 3 exercises produced in groups of 4/5 (max.) in the practical classes (45%).

 

Students in the Special Regime:

EV1. 1 written test (70%);

EV2. 1 written essay produced individually based on bibliographic references defined by the lecturers (30%).
