Political Divisions of Territory

Analysis of two texts, one into English and one into Portuguese, dealing with issues of translating land divisions (concelho, distrito, município, borough, county etc.) between the two languages. Analysis of strange case of the subtitles in the film "Witness" by Peter Weir, of the subtitles featuring "meio litro" for "pint" but leaving "galões" as a translation for "gallons" in the same scene.
