5.Objectivos de aprendizagem (conhecimentos, aptidões e competências a desenvolver pelos estudantes)

 

Nesta unidade curricular, que inaugura a elaboração do trabalho final, pretende-se:

- Desenvolver a capacidade de reflexão sobre questões científicas e metodológicas essenciais à investigação, de modo a que os estudantes possam avaliar as implicações das suas escolhas;

- Criar as bases essenciais à elaboração da tese: escolha do tema; preparação do plano e selecção e organização da bibliografia;

- Desenvolver a capacidade argumentativa e o sentido crítico através de breves exposições orais sobre tópicos e questões que os estudantes pretendam tratar nas suas teses.

 

5.Learning outcomes of the curricular unit

This curricular unit, where the beginning of the elaboration of the thesis takes place, aims:

- To develop the ability to reflect on the scientific and methodological issues that are essential  for conducting research and that will enable students to make the right choices;

- To provide the basic skills for writing a thesis, such as the choice of a research topic, the development of a research plan and the selection of a bibliography;

- To increase the skills for critical reasoning and for the use of good academic arguments. This will be achieved through brief oral presentations on different topics that the students intend to write about in their thesis.

 

6.Conteúdos programáticos

 Os conteúdos programáticos desta UC serão adaptados aos percursos temáticos e metodológicos que os estudantes pretendam desenvolver nas suas teses.

Incluirão sempre noções essenciais sobre a elaboração da tese: processos e metodologias de investigação; os vários modos de organização e estruturação do trabalho.

Planificação das fases de investigação: escolha do tema e do título; selecção da bibliografia; forma de apresentação do trabalho final.

6.Syllabus

The syllabus of this unit will be adapted to the different thematic and methodological pathways that the students intend to develop in their thesis.

It will always include the information necessary for the writing of an academic thesis such as  research methodologies and procedures; different ways of structuring a table of contents.

Planification of the different research phases: theme and title choices; bibliography selection; thesis layout.

 

7.Demonstração da coerência dos conteúdos programáticos com os objectivos de aprendizagem da unidade curricular

 Os flexíveis conteúdos programáticos desta UC permitem aos estudantes reflectir e avaliar as implicações das várias escolhas que vão fazendo de modo a definirem e elaborarem um plano de trabalho pormenorizado das suas futuras teses.

 

7.Demonstration of the syllabus coherence with the curricular unit's objectives

The flexible syllabus enables students to reflect on and evaluate the consequences of the choices they will have to make. At the end the students will have achieved a detailed written outline of their intended research projects.

 

8.Metodologias de ensino (avaliação incluída)

O seminário prevê a utilização de metodologias distintas:

1. acompanhamento tutorial e discussão individual de questões específicas do trabalho de investigação em desenvolvimento;

2. exposições orais curtas sobre questões e tópicos que pretendam investigar no âmbito dos seus trabalhos. Sempre que possível, estas apresentações serão seguidas de discussão e debate em grupo, promovendo a troca de experiências de trabalho entre os estudantes e o desenvolvimento quer do seu sentido crítico, quer da competência de comunicação oral.

Avaliação: a avaliação contínua terá em conta todas as intervenções relevantes no âmbito da discussão dos textos teóricos (previamente seleccionados) (20%), as apresentações orais ao longo do semestre (40%) e a produção escrita do plano de trabalho pormenorizado da futura tese (40%).

 

8.Teaching methodologies (including evaluation)

 Two different teaching methodologies will be used in this unit:

1. individual  discussion of very specific questions raised by each individual research work;

2. whenever possible there will be group discussions following the short oral presentations on topics the students intend to write about in their thesis.

Evaluation - the unit’s assessment is based on the following items: participation in class discussions (20%), oral presentations (40%) and the production of a detailed written outline of the future research work (40%).

 

9.Demonstração da coerência das metodologias de ensino com os objectivos de aprendizagem da unidade curricular

O acompanhamento tutorial permitirá o esclarecimento de questões científicas e metodológicas pontuais e específicas de uma determinada linha de investigação.

As exposições orais em grupo, seguidas de discussão e debate (organizadas sempre que possível), permitirão o desenvolvimento do sentido crítico e a capacidade de avaliar as implicações das escolhas a fazer.

 

9.Demonstration of the coherence between the teaching methodologies and the learning outcomes

The individual discussion is aimed to clarify specific issues concerning the individual research project.

The group oral presentations and discussions (whenever possible) will develop the critical reasoning and evaluation skills of the consequences of each methodological or scientific choice.

 

10.Bibliografia

 

 A bibliografia será seleccionada em função dos temas e das opções metodológicas dos estudantes pelo que terá que ir sendo constituída no decurso do semestre.

Bibliography will be selected according to the topics and methodologies of each individual student. Thus the selection will be made along the term.
