Epistemology and Philosophy of Science - Module 3
17 Dezembro 2024, 14:00 • Robert Michels
We discussed the assigned paper by Duran and Jongsma about black box algorithms and trust in applications of AI in medicine.
Ep & Phil Sci module 3 - session 3
10 Dezembro 2024, 14:00 • Robert Michels
We recapped the previous sessions, discussed an application of AI to "simulate simulations" in physics, and discussed Zerilli's paper "Explaining Machine Learning Decisions".
Epistemology and Philosophy of Science, Module 3: Epistemic Opacity in Applications of Machine Learning in Science - module 3
3 Dezembro 2024, 14:00 • Robert Michels
We discussed computer simulation models in contrast to regular non-computer assisted models, different kinds and purposes of such models, the distinction between strong and the weak AI, the basic structure of deep neural networks, the basics of machine learning, supervised vs unsupervised machine learning, and the problem of epistemic opacity of AI-based models.
Epistemology and Philosophy of Science - Module 3 - Epistemic opacity in Applications of machine learning in science
26 Novembro 2024, 14:00 • Robert Michels
We discussed some of the background from epistemology and the philosophy of science, including models in science.
