Guiding questions (Scheler) and supplementary background reading
Hi all,
In preparation for next class, consider the following questions:
1. Why does Scheler criticize the theory of projective empathy?
2. What is Scheler’s perceptual theory of other minds?
3. What makes community of feeling different from emotional infection?
4. What are the differences between life-community and society?
We will mostly focus on the reading from "The Nature of Sympathy".
I have also uploaded a supplementary background (optional) reading from Dan Zahavi's "Phenomenology: The Basics". You can find below a link to it. In the first part of next class, I will go over some of the key notions covered in this text.
