Presentation 1:  The evolution of the religious dilemma

Team members: João Pinto, Pedro Jorge, Joana Mateus, Ionuț Feraru, Luka Majcen

This presentation analyses the concept of religion by offering explanations for each one from the 5 most influential religions in the world: Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Christianity and Judaism.

For a better understanding of what religion means and how influent it is, we approached the relationship between religion, culture and communication. Knowing about this relationship, we found interesting and necessary to explain to include the geography of religions, which showed to us the spread of the these faiths across the globe and we made a comparison between ethnic religions and universalizing religions.

Because religion represented a major stimulus for conflicts throughout history, we presented a few religious conflicts which we labelled them as inter-religious conflicts and intrareligous conflicts, because some of these conflict were taking part in one religion (intrareligious conflicts) and some of them were taking part between two religions (inter-religious conflicts).

Religious identity was also a subtopic of our presentation. Here we have tried to identify factors that are affecting the religious identity and some trajectories for the religious identity as adolescence or emerging adulthood.

In the final of our presentation, we have discussed a little bit about the concept known as the interfaith dialogue. We approached this concept in contrast with the efforts of some organizations to create an interreligious dialogue in order to prevent the conflicts and the hate between religions.

Presentation 2:  Privilege and how it affects today's society
Team members: Raquel Vicente, Luana Bento, Iolanda Dias, Arzugül Özcan

Privilege does not mean you did not work hard. It means some people did not have the advantages you had to capitalize on. Understanding privilege can be vital because understanding it allows people who have privilege to see some of the suffering or hardships others have to go through. With the rise of intolerance in the world understanding privilege can be an essential bridge to forming empathy for others.

The real lesson here is not that some people have it easier or why bother trying when the odds are against me, but that you can still fail despite your privilege if you dont put the effort in, and you can still succeed if you really put the effort in.

This an important lesson for the privilege and the unprivileged. You are in charge of your destiny! Do not be discouraged, and do not be complacent.
