Lesson 1 - Who am I?

TP5 brainstormed questions they felt would be good to ask upon meeting someone/to get to know someone.

Some of the questions they came up with included:

  • What’s your name?
  • Where are you from?
  • How old are you?
  • What are you studying?
  • Where do you live?
  • Who do you live with?
  • What do you like doing for fun?
  • What do you want to do professionally?

Students then got into groups and asked each other these and other sets of questions. (Questions in 2nd person, answers in 1st person.)

Students then were required to feedback to the teacher/to the class things they learned about each other. (Questions and answers in 3rd person.)

TP5 were given their first homework assignment entitled 'Who am I?' which consists of bringing to the next class :

  1. 6 personal items;
  2. an information card about themselves.

The items and the cards will be used to create an in-class exhibit about the students of TP5.

The teacher modelled the assignment by projecting her own information card - students were made to identify and correct the verb conjugation mistakes found in the card.

Students have been warned that they must be consistente with their verbs (i.e. past and present!) when both writing and speaking about themselves next class (and throughout the semester!).
