Letters to the Editor: Reading two letters to the Editor and the articles they are related to: "Dogs are pets to be cared for, not tropphy items" (The Telegraph) and "The refugee experience" (The New York Times). Analysing the structure of letters to the editor by taking a look at the Letters to the Editor section of British quality papers (group activity). The UK Press, Libel and Crime Fighting

Explanation of how English and American law is different to European law on the issue of libel: "Truth is an absolute defense against libel" principle. Demonstration of how both the written press and the over-the-air media use their power to seek out and expose what they consider to be wrong-doing if it is in the public interest.
