Free associative film analysis and visual literacy

11 Novembro 2020, 14:00 Cecília Maria Beecher Martins

Began screening Michael Curtiz's Casablanca (1942).

Parts of this film were analysed to show how it uses the visual literacy and post production techniques we had been discussed earlier.

However, the primary aim was to use this film to demonstrate how free associative film analysis is performed.

The Preface and "Casablanca" chapter from Norman Holland's Meeting Movies (2006) were made available to students for them to read and observe the technique as they watch the film.
