Elicitation of the most common metaphors used in talking about disease and healthcare. Brainstorming in pairs to collate vocabulary of the domains of “war” and “battle”.

Viewing of “Cell Wars”, an animated film explaining how the immune system reacts when flu enters the body, followed by an examination of the war vocabulary used in the film.

Presentation on patient reactions to war metaphor in talking about cancer, and on war metaphor used in an Observer editorial on covid.

4th hour/tutorial work: Grammar practice

Homework: Prepare for evaluation.
