Students read the short story by Suzanne Joinson "Jasmin and other Flowers that make me cry".

We discuss the concept of descriptive writing that: appeals to the senses, focuses on the dominant impression, create a special mood, uses vivid and not vague language. It does not resort to too many adjectives or adverbs but uses metaphors and similes yet avoiding cliched expressions.
We also discuss the effect that the narrative has being written in the present rather than past tenses.
