1) Discussion of Margaret Atwood's article.


2) Groups brainstorm a utopia.

Where would it be? What would they be allowed to do? What would they have to do? Would they have any limitations?  

Next class groups will present their ideas to class, followed by general feedback



Homework (HW)

1) Groups watch one of the following films :  

Clockwork Orange (Anthony Burgess -> Stanley Kubrick, 1971)

Fahrenheit 451 (Ray Bradbury ->François Truffaut, 1966)

1984 (George Orwell -> Michael Radford, 1984) 

Brazil (Terry Gilliam, 1985)

The Lobster (Yorgos Lanthimos, 2016)

Then: Use “Elements of the Novel” worksheet (p.7) to build summary and present next class orally

Each group writes a small paragraph, to read out next class, answering:

a)      What most struck you about the film?

b)      In what ways is the film relevant today to our society?


2) Groups prepare their Utopias to present next class
