Discussion of  the short story"Neighbours" by Paul Theroux.
HOMEWORK: Do the multi-word exercises on pages 13.14 of the Workbook, and the exercises about present perfect vs simple past and past perfect vs simple past uploaded onto Moodle (see the Grammar folder). The answers will be checked next class.

Literary terms for analysing a short story: main character; minor characters; first-person narrator; third-person narrator; setting: time and place; point of view; plot vs theme; plot twist/turning point/climax; story diagram: exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution).

Today, TP4 looked at the basics of Narrative Writing.


Students who missed today's class should go through the PowerPoint of the same name which has been uploaded onto the shared Google drive.

Next class: we will be reading Alice Walker's The Flowers followed by Joyce Carol Oates's Small Avalanches.
