Catching Up & Success Criteria - Part 2
26 Março 2026, 12:30 • Hilda Alexandra Prazeres Eusebio
Today, TP6 finished reading João Gastão's excellent short story 'Blossom'. While reading, we did two important things: 1) increase vocabulary, and 2) we compared João's text to the success criteria present on the Homework Powerpoint, also available on the shared Google drive. João aced his homework - he deserved that 18.
Catching up & Success Criteria

The first order of business was the homework that was assigned to students via email during my absence.
- Read ALL of the 3rd viewpoint stories asap. That means finish reading Atwood's 'True Trash' and move on to the remaining ones.
- Create a list of new words (i.e. vocabulary) as you read the stories. I recommend using Merriam-Webster online dictionary. It has a complementary list of possible uses for each word, so you should be able to find the correct definition for any given word in any given context.
- Write a short story in the 3rd viewpoint. This will be your optional homework assignment the purpose of which is to practice for your test. There is a PowerPoint that gives you all the necessary instructions and success criteria. You can either write a story you've been longing to write or choose one of the prompts from the mock tests which can be found on the shared Google drive.
- finish reading 'Blossom'
- increase vocabulary
- compare to success criteria
- go through what is going to be on the grammar exam which has now been rescheduled to happen on the first day after Easter Break.
- go through homework expectations - both the reading and the writing.
