The Syllabus and a brief introduction to the poetry of the 1st World War. 

 
General approach to the context of the Great War and a few introductory readings, focussing the students' attention on a few poems then written. A wide panoramic view of the last one hundred years in English literature, with a particular focus on issues of poetry and war during and after the 1st World War, modernist narrative transformations and after, and a few more recent authors.

Mandatory readings to be accessed in The Norton Anthology of English Literature, Tenth edition, Vol. F, New York , Norton. 2018. (the 2012 edition is also available in the Main Library but some of the mandatory texts are not included).
