Introduction to B1.1 English

11 Setembro 2023, 09:30 Hilda Alexandra Prazeres Eusebio

Today's lesson was just an introduction to the course.

Students who missed today's class need to read the course book so that they know exactly what is expected of them this semester.

The course book and all of the many resources that students will need are available on the shared Google drive.  The course book can be printed out at home and brought to class, or you can access the course book via laptop or tablet.  Accessing the course book in class on your smart phone is not allowed.

Students that don't have a printer at home can print out the course book at the Red Photocopy Room (reprografia vermelha) here at FLUL which is located in the basement.

In order to have access to the shared Google drive, students must email (hilda.eusebio@campus.ul.pt) to confirm that the teacher has their permission to add their email to the shared Google drive (she has students' FLUL emails on Fénix).

GRADE PERCENTAGES

Assessment methods include class participation, written tests and an oral examination.

Weighting will be as follows:

Attendance and class participation – 10%

Midterm Test (Grammar) – 20%:

Oral presentation (exam) – 30%

Written Test – 40%

Should you FAIL the course, you can sit the Final Exam (Época Especial) which will be in January 2024.

In addition to grammar lessons and other in-class activities, students will
have up to three OPTIONAL homework assignments. All students are entitled to
tutorials for homework writing assignments, grammar and their oral presentation.

Please do not plagiarize either for homework assignments or for tests.  You will be caught if you do.  You will not enjoy being caught.  Being caught will result in a mark of ‘0’ and you will not be allowed to retake the test or redo the oral presentation.

(Yes, I always catch people.)
