2nd Writing Workshop - Part 1

25 Março 2021, 15:30 Hilda Alexandra Prazeres Eusebio

Today we carried out the first part of our second writing workshop.
Exercises included:

  • I remember...
    • Joe Brainard wrote a novel called I Remember and it's basically a collection of paragraphs all starting with the words 'I remember'.
    • Spend 10 minutes writing a short collection of “I remember” stories.
      • If you get really hooked on one of the sentences/paragraphs, then just carry on writing a proper, full-length story.  Otherwise, just keep listing your memories...
  • Write a letter to your younger self.
    • Suggestions:
      • What advice or words of wisdom would you give them?
      • What warnings would you give them?
      • How would you inspire them?
      • Do you have a special message for them?
      • What do you know now that you didn’t know then?
  • Vocabulary Story
    • Go and get your list of vocabulary words.
    • Write a story using as many of the words on the list as you can.
    • Aim to include 10-20 words in your story.
    • Try to get the finished story to make sense.
Homework: click on the following link and choose 3 story topics from the 101 that are available.  Write the three topics down and bring them to tomorrow's workshop.
