Finished screening of The Talented Mr. Ripley. We discussion the differences between the characters of Tom and Dickie in Patricia Highsmith's original novel and Anthony Minghella's film adaptation.


Students must read the Bluestone text on adaptation in the manual for discussion in the next class. Each student must have one question on the text.

Continued screening of The Talented Mr. Ripley  - discussion of elements of mise-en-scene and how these foretell plot twists (primer/undercoat scene) or maintain a positive mood even if the characters' dialogues refer to "dangerous" future events - i.e the garden in the "talents" scene.
