How to Write a Literary Essay - Part 3

26 Fevereiro 2026, 09:30 Hilda Alexandra Prazeres Eusebio

Today, TP6 learned how to create good cohesion (the last of the 3 Cs) beween paragraphs.

We did this by going through the model essay entitled 'Joyce Carol Oates's Small Avalances: How a Bad Girl Plays it Safe'.  Students who missed today's class should go through this essay which is available on the shared Google drive.  It is located in the 'How to Write an Essay' folder, which in turn is in the 'Essay Stuff' folder which can be found in the 'Resources' folder.

Please compare the essay to the 'success criteria' table.  Are all of the criteria met?

Next class: we will be identifying themes and brainstorming thesis statements for each of the two stories (time allowing).

Homework: Please ensure that you have read the first two stories - Story 1: 'A Temporary Mater' and Story 2: 'When Mr. Pirzada Came to Dine' for next class.
