There will be no more oral presentations.

Any other business:

  • The teacher was reminded by na outstanding student that we will be carrying out our LISTENING EXAM on Tuesday, 31st May, in class.  (I've never done this before - I'm so excited and hope you are too!)
  • The Major Writing Assignments will not be marked with the multi-colour code system - they will be marked by hand (due to time restraints) and will be handed back on Tuesday, 31st May, in class.
  • The End-of-Term Exam will consist of two sections:
    1. Comprehension - READ the questions carefully if you wish to ace this section;
    2. Composition - this will consist of THREE options of which you must choose ONE and ONLY ONE.
      1. Narrative and/or descriptive: you will have 4 pictures - you will write a narrative and/or descriptive piece based on one or more of these pictures;
        • What do I mean by 'descriptive and/or narrative'?  I mean that you can either write:
          • a descriptive piece (very little to no plot) OR
          • a narrative piece (mostly plot with little description) OR
          • a narrative (plot) with a significant amount of description,
      2. Persuasive: you will have to write a persuasive piece as requested;
      3. Expository: you will have 3 questions to choose from; once you've chosen your ONE question you will then base your thesis on the question and complete the essay with quotes and all!
        • PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING THE NOVEL.

Do vs. Make

The students and teacher went on to list and explore different contexts in which to use 'make' and 'do'.  This won't be on the final test due to teacher's poor decision in promising her students that there would be no gramar on the final exam.  (What was I thinking?)
