Reading film - introduction to some of the elements of cinematic mise-en-scene

The concepts of narrative film and its structure were presented as was the notion that plot twists are introduced visually before the event to prepare audiences for the changes in sequence.

While watching the opening segments of George Cukor's 1944 film Gaslight we looked at how cinematic mise-en-scene was used to offer a foreshadowing of crisis and to create atmosphere.
