People's fears

14 Novembro 2018, 14:00 Rui Vitorino Azevedo

Everyone is afraid of something and for this presentation that’s what I want you speak about: fear. You can choose a rational fear or something that is a product of a traumatic experience. This could include specific phobias or diseases, or even common fears such as the fear of heights, public speaking, flying, snakes, spiders, etc. Another possibility is to discuss common fears from different nationalities. What do Americans or British people fear in comparison to the Portuguese? And why do you think those fears differ? You could also take on a more scientific approach and look for an explanation. Which part of the brain triggers fear? How does it work?  It has also been argued, however, that there is a certain pleasure in fear – thus, the horror genre. Is this your case? Do you enjoy books or movies in the horror genre? Do you enjoy being scared? What has really scared you?
Reviewed general language problems.
