How to write an editorial

Today we read and analyzed "Wonder Woman: Carrying the Weight of the World" and went through the PowerPoint with the instructions on how to write the editorial.

Both the PowerPoint and the sample editorial have been added to the shared drive in the folder entitled "Editorial Stuff".  The correct due date for the editorial is the 24th of February

Please note that yet more mistakes were identified in the Course Calendar and this document has been updated on the Google drive.

Please do not heed the course calendar in the course book - this is beyond outdated as we keep getting more and more students and their oral presentations need to keep being added to the calendar.

Next class: we will be hearing our first two oral presentations from Oleksandra Butyrska and Rodrigo Batista on the topics of the Iraq Invasion (2003) and The death of Dr. David Kelly and the Hutton Inquiry.

How to write an editorial

10 Fevereiro 2021, 17:00 Hilda Alexandra Prazeres Eusebio

Today, TP13 identified the different feelings/emotions that fueled Owen Jones' editorial piece "Who will speak up against the demonisation of migrants? " (Text 5 in the course book):

  • anger
  • disappointment
  • disgust
  • shame
  • compassion
  • empathy
  • desperate (for change)
  • concern
  • indignation
  • etc.

TP13 then learned the basics of how to go about preparing and organizing an editorial piece, with the teacher modelling each step in the process.

Tomorrow, we will go on to analyze the final product: "Wonder Woman: Carrying the Weight of the World". A PowerPoint with all of the steps explained plus a Word document with the editorial piece that was analyzed in class will be uploaded onto the shared drive.
