Discussion of students' choice of set novel.
Discussed the word transformation that appear in CAE and CPE - here I demonstrated how important it is to understand the different parts of speech and to recognise which one is needed in a particular funtion - then how to transform the root word into the one necessary for the text. Did practice exercises and showed students the recognised Cambridge Examination sites where they can do further work in this area
Discussed the transfer exercises that appear in CAE and CPE - practice with the same.
Advance grammar - the grammatical structures that require inversion of word order and did practice exercises- manual pp 22-25.
Students must do reading comprehension exercise pp 34-35 for next class and also think of an appropriate term for the "backstop" as applied to Brexit.
