Letters to the Editor: (a) how to write a letter to the editor; (b) in-class individual assignment: writing a letter to the Editor expressing your opinion about one of the following news stories about Native Americans: 1. "Bears Ears is sacred to Native Americans. But heritage isn't all equal for Trump";  2.  'They don't belong': police called on Native American teens on college tour: 3. Native Americans offer to educate Covington Catholic staff and students; 4. Dor perfume ad featuring Johnny Depp criticized over Native American tropes;  5. 'This is all stolen land': Native Americans want more than California's apology.

HOMEWORK: Read the short story "Tony's story" by Leslie Marmon Silko and answer the question under the heading Literary Analysis on page 26.


Descriptive Writing Oral Presentations

Today, the first three groups did their oral presentations on their descriptive analyses of Virginia Woolfe's diary extracts and the first of Sylvia Plath's journal entries..


Next class, we will finish Plath and move on to Anne Michaels.
