Workshop 1: Practical applications of the theoretical grounding discussed in the two previous lectures.

Workshop tasks performed on 6 sample texts. Differences between spoken vs written language.  Lexical density and grammatical intricacy in the sample texts as a means to distinguish texts in a continuum between spoken and written.

Horizontal knowledge structures and hierarchical knowledge structures in vertical discourse: the social sciences and the humanities vs the sciences.
