Test and Instructions for June Exam

Students were sent a test by email with two excerpts testing financial and economic language.


JUNE EXAM
The following instructions are for students who enrol to sit the exam in June.

TEST STRUCTURE
The test will consist of three short passages for translation:
-journalistic text
-academic text
-financial/economic text

CRITERIA
Students will need to have a pass mark in at least two of the three translations in order to pass the exam

PROCEDURE
Students who enroll for the exam need to contact me by email (silvatania@campus.ul.pt)  AT LEAST 48 hours prior to the exam The exam is scheduled for  4 June at 4pm.Students who inform me in advance by email of their enrollment will receive the test on the above date and time and will have TWO hours to complete the exercise before returning it to me by email.Students who do not have access to the material used in our classes may contact me and I will send the texts we have worked on this semester. Anyone who requires further clarification may also contact me by email

TRANSLATION TOOLS AND RESOURCES

To ensure students do not rely excessively on translation tools such as  Google translate, all the texts included in the exam have already been translated by these tools so that a comparison may be made with the work submitted by students in the exam. While selective  use of such tools  is not prohibited, students should be aware that they do not provide perfect translations and must be used with precaution.
