Sagres Campaign

7 Março 2018, 18:00 Tânia Joesephine Gregg Lopes da Silva

Students were shown the Sagres 2016 campaign and given the script to translate. This script contains a large number of cultural references for which equivalent concepts do not exist in English. Therefore, the translation of this text requires a large degree of flexibility and understanding of the cultural implications. Students were asked to prepare the translation in groups by discussing meanings, references, obstacles, etc, and finding their closest equivalents in English. This translation will be written and handed in for assessment (as classwork).
